Girlfriends, Cocktails and Food

The importance of girlfriends, cocktails and food.  The first true spring day happened last Sunday in Ohio. It was beautiful blue sky and 70 degrees. Trees were in bloom and it was the perfect day to sit out side and enjoy life.

When was the last time you took time for yourself and your girls?  No work, No Kids, No significant other?  Just you time and a couple of your girlfriends. Not doing anything but talking smart and having a drink and eating some food.  It’s not a meeting for PTA or planning a kids event or a couples party  it’s just you and your girl forces time..

I don’t have kids but reality is I still don’t do this enough. I have work, charity, more work, building a business. These things take over my life just like kids and partners do to other women.

I met my girlfriends on the campus of our local college and we copped a squat….claimed our space. Got some food from a Favorite  Food Truck that was on campus for graduation.  Pulled out some homemade Hurricanes and had our own girl force gathering.

Food Truck

Cravings Satisfied

The food Truck was awesome Sweet T’s Food Truck  satisfies my southern food cravings. It feeds my belly. Much like the time I spend with my girl force feeds my soul.  I am sure significant others think we sit around talking about them and the kids and work. Those maybe part of it but it’s so much more.

Girlfriends, Cocktails and Food

Girl Force is a place to ask questions about things we don’t understand. We can talk about our past and what we want from our futures. Our futures separate from the relationships or careers we are in. What comes after the kids because there is an after the kids time. We discuss  our fears, hopes and dreams. Yes that sounds hokey but if you don’t have hopes and dreams beyond your kids and relationships are you really living life? Discuss….

Not one thing may come from our conversations , but it feeds our souls just like the food feeds our bellies. We lubricate it all with a drink or two. Because we hit the Southern food truck this week I brought Hurricanes. You can find the single-serving recipe here Hurricane Recipe.

If you want to supply your next Girl Force gathering with Hurricanes the following is a big batch recipe.
